Effective 4/20/2022

The New York State SOP Law (Standard Operating Procedures) requires a real estate broker to provide specific guidance to prospective purchasers of residential property. Please be advised that prior to showing a purchaser a property:

  • We do not require identification from a prospective purchaser*
  • We require a purchaser to sign an exclusive brokerage agreement
  • We require a pre-approval for a mortgage loan or proof of funds in order to show a purchaser properties

*Identification may be required by a seller or another real estate broker

Effective 6/20/2020

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced the launch of a Fair Housing Enforcement Program – a groundbreaking initiative to uncover discrimination in rental and home sale transactions. Additionally, the Governor has directed the Division of Human Rights and the Department of State to propose new regulations to strengthen the state's housing enforcement efforts on behalf of all New Yorkers.
